The infection rate of cell cultures can be 35% or greater. Accurate and reproducible data depend on cell culture quality control, especially routine checks for sterility.While there are over 100 known species of Mycoplasma, seven of these species are most commonly found in cultures. These include: Mycoplasma orale, M. hyorhinis, M. arginini, A. laidlawii, M. salivarium, M. hominis and M. fermentans.
